Norway Tours offers a unique winter experience in Lofoten. Henningsvær is Lofoten´s largest fishing village, sometimes called “The Venice of Lofoten”.
Day 1: Arrival in Lofoten
Arrival in Svolvær airport, pick up your rental car and drive to Henningsvær, Lofoten‘s largest fishing village. Henningsvær is situated at the foot of Mount Vågakaillen and was connected to the mainland by the bridge which was built in 1963.
Have a look at the buildings behind the quayside, colorful mix of homes, shops, workshops, cafes, hotels and a school. We recommend a stop at Henningsvær candle factory and café where the locals of all ages come by to eat the excellent cinnamon buns. Explore the friendly village at your leisure. Don’t forget to view the incredible scenery at the famous harbor and the fish racks which illustrate the special charm of this beautiful local community in Henningsvær.
Day 2: Reine and Experience the Viking History at Borg
Viking museum at Borg
After your time in Henningsvær you continue E10 to the fishing village of Reine. On the way you can make a stop at Lofotr Viking Museum. Lofoten has strong connection to the viking age. The museum is a reconstructed Viking longhouse where you can get a unique insight of how Viking life was like thousand years ago. Just before you arrive to Reine we recommend that you make a small stop at Reinehalsen, lies at the foot of the Reinebringen peak to enjoy the view. This place is one of Norway’s most photographed spots ! Reine i located in Northern Lofoten on the island Moskensøya. This is a small friendly village where you will stay in a cabin for the next two nights.
Overnight stay in Reine area.
Today you have a free day explore Lofoten on your own. If the sky is clear in the evening and the northern light forecast is good we recommend you to take a drive to Skagsanden beach. The drive to Skagsanden beach is approx. 30 kilometers, takes you about 40 minutes one way to drive there. Skagsanden beach is one of Lofoten‘s most photographed beaches and if Northern lights appear this one of the most popular places to go to see them.
Overnight stay in Reine area.
Day 4: Free time in Svolvær
Drive back to Svolvær and spend the day sightseeing at your own leisure. On the way back to Svolvær you can stop at one of Lofoten‘s popular beaches like Haukland beach or Uttakleiv.
After a day of adventure, we recommend an evening visit to the charming Borsen spiseri in an old wooden storehouse right on the edge of the sea to enjoy traditional meal.
