Day 1: Welcome to Oslo !

Arrive at Oslo airport, pick-up your rental car and begin your drive to Oslo for your first overnight stay. Oslo has many excellent attractions. Here are a few highlights that we recommend. Vigeland Sculpture Park, Viking Ship Museum, Kon-tiki Museum, Munch Museum and Holmenkollen National Arena. Just few minutes away from Holmenkollen National Arena is Frognerseteren, a popular starting point for recreational hiking and skiing in Oslo. In the city centre around Karl Johans Gate there are a variety of shopping centres, restaurants, clubs and cafés. Some of Oslo’s most admired attractions are also found near the city centre for example: Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Royal Palace, Akershus Fortress, and many more.

Day 2: Flåm

Highlights
After your breakfast in the morning you will drive to visit the beautiful town of Flåm. Flåm is situated in the municipality of Aurland with 450 inhabitants. In 1960 most of the people in Flåm were farmers, nowadays most of the inhabitants work in the tourism industry or on the railway. If time allows, the 20 kilometer Flåm railway, Flamsbana is a highly recommended excursion. This railway takes you on a journey through the impressively steep mountains, breath-taking waterfalls and passes many viewpoints of the surrounding mountains and fjords. In 2014, Lonely Planet named this journey “The World‘s Best Train Journey.

Day 3: Flåm – Bergen

From Flåm you will drive to Voss, the outdoor capital of Norway. Voss is located between the famous fjords of Sognefjord and Hardangerfjord. Voss is well known for the wide range of outdoor activities on offer, including horseback riding, rafting and hiking. After you have visited Voss you will continue your drive to Bergen where you will spend your night. Bergen is known the world over as the gateway to the fjords of Norway. The city is surrounded by one of the world’s most spectacular tourist attractions, the Norwegian Fjords, which have been designated on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

Day 4:Magnificent Sognefjord!

Today you will start your journey to Balestrand. You will drive along the beautiful Sognefjord, Norways longest and deepest fjord. You will drive through few small towns on your way to Balestrand. Balestrand is known for its breathtaking nature and has inspired artist all over the world with its amazing landscape.

Day 5:National Park and Geiranger

Enjoy breakfast in Balestrand and begin your journey to Fjærland, Fjærland is a small village where Sognefjord meets Jostedalsbreen Glacier. In Fjærland there are many activities that you can participate in, for an example Glacier hike or kayaking. After your stop in Fjærland you will continue to Stryn. From Stryn you will continue to Geiranger. Geirangerfjorden is often considered one of the most beautiful fjords in the world, and is one of Norway’s most popular attractions.

Day 6: Flydalsjuvet, Dalsnibba and Lillehammer

Today its time to go to Lillehammer. On your way we recommend you to stop at both Flydalsjuvet and Dalsnibba. Flydalsjuvet viewpoint offers a great view over Geirangerfjord where you have the chance to get a picture of Geirangerfjord. Dalsnibba viewpoint is called Geiranger Skywalk, you can walk out to a platform where there is a glass rail which gives you a unique experience. Please note that there is a toll fee for getting here. After you have visited Dalsnibba view point you will continue your drive to Lillehammer

Day 7:The Olympic town of Lillehammer - Oslo

On this day you will spend time in Lillehammer before heading back to Oslo. This friendly town was founded in 1827 and is world famous for hosting the Olympic Games in 1994. Lillehammer is nice to explore by foot or bicycle with many cosy restaurants and cafés in the main street Storgata. We recommend a visit to the Olympic arenas managed by Lillehammer Olympiapark, Lysgårdsbakkene Ski Jumping Arena where you can try the bobsled simulator or take a ride with the chairlift for a great view . Another good option could be Maihaugen which provides an insight into life and work in Norway over the past 500 years and is one of Northern Europes largest museum.

Drive back to Gardermoen for your return flight, or consider booking an extra night in the friendly capital of Oslo.
