Day 2: Magnificent Fjords and The world´s best Train Journey
After your overnight stay in Bergen, your drive will continue to Voss, the outdoor capital of Norway.
Voss is located between the famous fjords of Sognefjord and Hardangerfjord. Voss is well known for the wide range of outdoor activities on offer, including horseback riding, rafting and hiking. In the second longest fjord Sognefjord you will find the beautiful town of Flåm, with its spectacular natural surroundings. When driving from Voss to Flåm don’t miss out the beautiful Tvinderfossen waterfall. If time allows, the 20 kilometer Flåm railway, Flamsbana is a highly recommended excursion. This railway takes you on a journey through the impressively steep mountains, breath-taking waterfalls and passes many viewpoints of the surrounding mountains and fjords. In 2014, Lonely Planet named this journey “The World‘s Best Train Journey.“
We highly recommend a visit to Undredal village between Flåm and Gudvangen. The village is famous for its small stave church built in 1147 and white and brown goat cheese. Undredal is a friendly village with an active and vibrant local culture. Conclude your day by driving through Aurlandsfjorden located in the southern part of Sognefjorden. This is a journey through the heart of the fjords and is surrounded with mountain peaks, deep fjords and contrasting scenery. Enjoy a short break with a stop in the friendly villages of Aurland and Lærdal.
Aurland is situated on the Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord both of which are listed as UNESCO’s World Heritage sites. If you wish to go hiking, lace up your boots and hike to the breath-taking viewpoint from Stegastein, situated 6 kilometers from the center of Aurland and 650 meters above sea level. Drive in the afternoon to Sogndal area for an overnight stay.

Ålesund is known for fishing and furniture production. This nice and warm village is located at the peak of the fjords in Sunnmmøre.
